PCGs are one of the most important stakeholder groups in a project.
The best PCGs are those that have the strategic business owners in the room and those that have a good relationship with their peers and their teams.
They set the direction and ensure alignment with the strategic objectives of the business. They can add some fun to a very long project with their support and enthusiasm and the Project Working Group and their Project Director are keen to meet their expectations.
In this course, you will gain an understanding of why and how the PCG is formed and how they learn about what the project is about through key project plan and charter documents and other recommendations.
Approximately 20 Minutes
There is a great deal of planning to occur in the project and it is reasonable that PCG members want to ensure that the business is going to get the support they need during this time, and that the changes aren’t detrimental to the organization, their customers and employees.
It is expected that the PCG members are in the game to help move the workplace towards the new ways of working to achieve the strategic goals and aspirations agreed. Sometimes it is also a good thing to have a Leader that isn’t supportive of the new ways of working on the PCG so that this person can be seen as a converter and others will follow.
In this course, you will gain an understanding of what the PCG does in the planning phase of the project, helping the PWG by putting the right people in place that are influencers in the business, and endorsing the new ways of working.
Approximately 20 Minutes
Some PCG members will be very hands on and participate in working groups where there may be some sticky or contentious things to sort through.
If a PCG member has time, they will participate with others in the Working Groups and this will give them a better understanding of how decisions are being made, who is impacted by the change, how they are impacted, how the plan for the change is going to be undertaken, who should be engaged, and what strategies will be put in place to help transition the employees.
Others will want to make sure that the cost of not changing and moving towards the new ways is mitigated against, and that all changes identify directly with the links of the Strategic Objectives.
In this course, you will gain an understanding of the things the PCG will be making decisions on and be participating in during the months prior to relocating the business.
Approximately 20 Minutes
What are the things you will hear about, be involved in, directly make decisions for, and may just provide input to during the Close out phase of the project.
These things are in no particular order and are not exhaustive, there’s loads more things that may pop up but these are the regular things the PCG will have sight of or oversight for.
In this course, you will gain an understanding of how a well managed program will end.
Approximately 20 Minutes
